 Founder, Executive Director

Rema founded On Broadway to create a place where young people could come and have a

one-of-a-kind Musical Theatre experience. She has built this strengths based program because she grew up in programs where they beat you down a little bit about your weaknesses to make you "stronger." She feels it’s already hard enough being a child, an artist, who is already feeling awkward and sensitive. To then have someone harp on those weaknesses—it doesn’t sit well with her.  Rema feels that we should empower our students and tell them- let’s turn to all the wonderful things that you are doing! Then, we can slowly improve upon those weaker areas without them even noticing. Rema is a 20-year Broadway veteran and her mission is to pass on her knowledge, create a better learning environment and inspire the next generation of young artists. She was most recently seen in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill at The Cape Playhouse, and with the NJ Symphony Orchestra. Other one-woman shows include: Billie & Me (A Tribute to Billie Holiday)To Ella & Judy With Love  (A Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald & Judy Garland)Speak on It: The Fannie Lou Hamer Story, and Children Will Listen.  Recent TV Credits: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Central Park, Murphy  Brown. Broadway Credits: Escape to Margaritaville, The Color Purple, Violet, The Lion King, The Book of Mormon, and Ragtime. Off-Broadway & Regional Credits: Unmasked, Footloose, Disney’s Hercules, Little Shop of Horrors, The Cradle Will Rock, The Colored Museum, A New Brain, You’re Standing In My Way: A New Song Cycle, Being Alive. Rema feels honored that God or the universe allows her to have On Broadway and that families choose us to mentor their children and offer them a safe haven.

Because of my personal commitment to the performing arts… because of my commitment to mentoring young people… because of my commitment to education… I must share my experiences, encourage and help usher in newer generations of young students to be the best at whatever they decide to do in life."
